Finally Somebody To Blame!!!
I’m proudly part of Generation X. How often do you hear that? I even cringed a little while I typed it. It occurred to me that Steve and Mary, from my Novel SMAFU must have also been part of the same generation. It makes complete sense considering that is where my perspective comes from.
At the end of my rambling I will post a link to an article by Salon.com that does an incredible job explaining the mid-life crisis that is hitting my generation. Frankly, I think my novel is more entertaining (and many readers agree) but for the down and dirty on the situation, it’s a good place to start.
In the Novel SMAFU, Steve and Mary are a typical couple. They have a couple of kids, a little house, a functional détente with each other, and a whole lot of years of denial. Life has taken its toll and Steve has little direction in life; Mary has mostly given up. They move through their days in survival mode. Working; taking care of the kids and hoping someday life will improve.
It’s a tale that has resonated with so many people that have read it that it hit me… Generation X is finally hitting its mid-life crisis. There are no sports cars or hot twenty-somethings. There are no giving up the mansions and moving to a one-bedroom apartment going on, because most Gen-Xers never had a mansion to begin with.
If the mood strikes you to read a fantastic book that has resonated with so many, please download or purchase the paperback at any of these fine retailers:
